Quest CE’s Pledge to Help Fight Hunger in Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE – May 30, 2013 – Quest CE, premier provider of insurance continuing education and FINRA firm element training, is pleased to announce its pledge to help fight local hunger in the southeastern Wisconsin region. In correlation with the Hunger Task Force, a non-profit, anti-hunger public policy organization, Quest CE will devote over 150 hours to planting and harvesting fresh produce for the express purpose of feeding Milwaukee’s hungry.
This summer, as part of Quest CE’s initiative, employees will volunteer at the Hunger Task Force Farm, helping produce over 350,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables to be delivered free of charge to local food pantries and meal programs. The Hunger Task Force farm, which operates on over 208 acres of land, is the only urban farm in Wisconsin that donates all of its harvest to support local hunger relief. The Hunger Task Force mission, alongside numerous other organizations, is in response to a growing problem at both local and national levels.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, over 48.8 million Americans live in households that lack the means of maintaining nutritious food on a regular basis. In addition, over 17.2 million households in America suffer from food insecurity—the limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe food.
“The Hunger Task Force mission to achieve a hunger free community is one that Quest CE is fully committed to supporting,” said Quest CE Chief Executive Officer Linda Krenke. “As such, Quest CE has pledged to help our neighboring communities, organizations, and families in the fight against hunger.”
Quest CE encourages participation in the community through its “Quest CE Cares” program. This program offers employees paid time off in exchange for participation in Quest CE’s charitable efforts. In total, Quest CE anticipates over 75% of its workforce to volunteer at the farm this summer.
Quest CE is committed to being an active community member by aiding local organizations in fulfilling their missions of positively influencing the lives of individuals and families. Click here for more information about the Hunger Task Force and its array of outreach opportunities.
