Each of the new offerings is geared towards professionals who specialize in providing retirement planning services.

ASPPA (American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA)

The ASPPA is a national organization that represents those who have made a career of retirement plan and pension policy work. The membership consists of the many disciplines supporting retirement income management and benefits policy. Some disciplines include: QKA, QPA, CPC and APM.

Requirements:

  • Forty Credits Each Cycle
  • Two Ethics Credits Each Cycle

National Association of Plan Advisors (NAPA)

The NAPA was created for retirement plan advisors and serves to promote the continued education and professional development of financial advisors and sales teams through a range of educational products. The core purpose of this designation is to enhance retirement security with a focus on providing high quality, professional advice to retirement plans and their participants.

Requirements:

  • Twenty Continuing Education Credits, Every Two-Year Cycle
  • Two Ethics Credit, Every Two-Year Cycle

National Tax-Deferred Savings Association (NTSA)

The NTSA is a professional division within the ASPPA which pertains to advisors who specialize in 403(b) plans, with goals to grow their practices and improve retirement outcomes for their plan participants. The NTSA is the nation’s only independent, non-profit association dedicated to the 403(b) and 457(b) marketplace. Over the years, the NTSA has grown to include practitioners, agencies, corporate and employer members.

Requirements:

  • Forty Credits, Every Two-Year Cycle
  • Two Ethics Credits, Every Two-Year Cycle

Certified 401(k) Professional (C(k)P)

The C(k)P designation is considered a high achievement for the professional Retirement Plan Advisor. To earn this designation, the financial professional must have a combination of substantial practical retirement plan management experience and they must have completed the required educational program. Additionally, the financial professional must have demonstrated real world application of the core competencies taught in the classroom.

Requirements:

  • Six Hours of Self-Study Continuing Education Each Calendar Year
  • Six Hours of Live Continuing Education Each Calendar Year

Accredited Pension Administrators (APA)

The APA designation is designed for pension administrators, retirement relationship managers and ERISA compliance specialists. A pension administrator typically acts as a benefits manager who oversees company benefit programs including 401(k)s, pension plans, stock-option and profit-sharing.

  • Fifteen Hours of Continuing Professional Education
